Shaareeraka Sutrartha Padyavalee is also a very great work of Sri Aravamudhachariar. The greatness of this work is well acknowlegded by yet another great scholor Sri V.S.Karunakaran Swamy who also belong to vedhanta parampara of Sri Annaiyarya Mahadesikan which is the same as of my grand father. Here I have attached some of the highlights of the foreword written by Sri V.S.Karunakaran for this book. I Sri V.S.Karunakaran Consider privileged to have got the opportunity to write the foreword for this excellent work titled "Shaareeraka Sutrartha Padyavalee". Traditionally, a work is to be looked at from three angles. 1. Theme of the work 2. The Authenticity of the work and 3. Way of presentation in the work.
Theme of Work.
The Shaareeraka Sutras are held in high esteem in the field of philosophy in India. It is said that before Vedavyasa, the vedas were a conglomeration in the yander yugas. The sainly persons of those yugas were capable of mastering those vedas as they were. Vedavyasa compiled Shaareeraka Sutras. This work of vedavyasa also known as Brahmasutras formed basis for all the subsequent acharyas of the vedanta philosophy. Many scholors have written a commentary on the brahmasutras. Bhagawan Ramanuja wrote his commentary on the Brahmasutras and his work is called as Sri Bhashyam.
Authenticity of the Work
The work has been written by Sri Aravamudhacharya, a great scholor. He was the only son of Sri Mathuranthakam Swachandam Tarkasimham Srinivasacharya. Sri Aravamudhachariar studied Sanskrit litreture and logic under his father and obtained "Nyayashiromani Degree" in logic.
Later, he studied Ramanuja's philosophy under the great Thirumalai Nallan Chakravarthi Kottimangalam Veeraraghavarya Maha Desikan.
Way of presentation in the work
The Speciality of the work of Swachandam Aravamudhacharya is that he has chosen the Sardula Vikreetitam meter to explain the meaning of Brahmasutra which is almost as magnanimous as the sragdhara meter employed by Swami Desika in his Adhikarna Saaravalee. The peotry is natural and very lucid. He does not seem to face any constraint of the rigid sanskrit prosody. He does not baffle the reader by using rare words. Anybody going through this work will agree with me.
Sri Aravamudhachariar swamy has achieved a thing which even vedhanta Deika has not, in the sense that Vedanta Desika has focused at giving the essence of Athikarnas.
